Marcia Bennett



Marcia Bennett has acted professionally for 44 years, with memberships in ACTRA, SAG-AFTRA, CAEA and AEA. She has a BA from U. of Evansville, IN and an MA (Theatre) from U. of Missouri. She taught film acting and audition technique for 12 years at Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto, and was associated as an instructor at Centre for the Arts, under the leadership of John Boylan. Marcia currently conducts youth classes and private coaching at LB Acting Studio. She continues her work, active for 21 years, as a private coach for monologues, auditions and film technique. She’s worked as a dramaturge for playwrights and been an advisor to screenwriters. She served as on-set coach for Radio Free Roscoe, The Zack Files, Red Sneakers, Snow, Kit Kittredge: American Girl, and My Louisiana Sky (coaching Kelsey Keel who won a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Actress). On stage, Marcia has appeared in leading roles across Canada. Her performance as “Julia”, the title role in Madre (Aluna Theatre at Theatre Passe Muraille) earned her a 2008 Dora Nomination. Marcia’s film and television work is extensive, having acted in over 120 film and TV productions. She is well known for her role as ‘May Silverstone’ in the first season of the award winning Slings and Arrows. Among her favourite roles are ‘Ms. Mackinaw’ in the thriller, THE WOODS, directed by Lucky Mckee, and ‘Lydia Tremson’ in the award winning Canadian Indie film NOCTURNE, directed by Saul Pincus. Upcoming films include COUNTRY CRUSH starring Madeline Merlo, 2015 winner of the CCMA Rising Star Award and Munro Chambers of Degrassi fame, as well as OUR HOUSE starring Thomas Mann.
