Katelyn Ettinger

Katelyn Ettinger was born and raised in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. Prior to dance, she was a competitive gymnast for eight years, training, coaching and competing in many levels of artistic gymnastics as well as trampoline and power tumbling. At the late age of 14, Katelyn began her competitive dance training in a variety of disciplines including jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, musical theatre, and cabaret. Soon after, Katelyn began teaching at her local dance studio and choreographed her high school's production of Footloose in 2009. While earning her Bachelors degree in Psychology at Saint Mary's University from 2009-2013, Katelyn attended conventions in Halifax, Toronto, and New York City taking advanced dancer/teacher classes from industry leading choreographers. During that time she also choreographed for Bit by the Modelling Bug and directed 3 Acro programmes at studios in Nova Scotia while continuing to teach both recreational and competitive dance in a variety of styles. In 2010 and 2011, Katelyn had the opportunity to represent Canada with SMU Dance at The International Hip Hop Dance Worlds (Orlando FL), and her choreography was showcased by team Canada in the Top 10 at the same competition in 2013. Now a resident of Toronto, Katelyn is the choreographer for the National Music Camp of Canada 2015 and the Juno nominated kids pop band Marlowe & The MiX. She also directs multiple Acro dance programs and teaches throughout the Greater Toronto Area for multiple dance studios and youth companies. Katelyn is thrilled to be following her dream of being a full time choreographer and when she is not teaching she can be found training at the Toronto School of Circus Arts as a ground acrobat and with the Toronto Dance Project. She is on the Roster for SMASH Entertainment (dancer/model) as well as Icing Marketing Corporation (model), and has her National Coaching Certification for Artistic Gymnastics as a member of Gymnastics Ontario. Katelyn is a passionate teacher who believes anything is possible with a little bit of hard work, dedication, and a smile.
