George Randolph Wins Barbara Hamilton Award

Randolph Academy President and Founder George Randolph has won the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts' (TAPA) Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award. Nominated by theatre impresario David Mirvish, Mr. Randolph received the award on May 30, 2016, at TAPA's press conference with the season's Dora Award nominations. Established in 1996 in recognition of the canon of work that was Barbara Hamilton's career, the Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award is presented to Canadian artist who demonstrates excellence in the performing arts and is dedicated to advocating and being an ambassador for the arts in Canada. The Award is administered by the City of Toronto with calls for nominations sent out from TAPA. [MORE]

The veteran director/choreographer, who recently stepped down as artistic director of the Charlottetown Festival after 10 years, worked directly with Broadway's longest-running songwriting team, Kander and Ebb, as resident director of the Broadway production of Kiss of the Spider Woman.
