Singer + Actor + Dancer = TRIPLE THREAT®
The Randolph Academy’s Kids Program Triple Threat® Division offers the necessary classes to develop and fine tune the skills of a well-rounded performer—performers who can act, sing, and dance. Different levels are offered for different age groups: Broadway Babies (Grades 1-2), Triple Threat (Grades 3-9), and Pre-College (Grades 10-12).
Broadway Babies In this hour-long class the students will spend the first half of the year (September-December) participating in Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Dance Classes and Improvisation Activities guided by trained professionals. During the second half of the year (January-May/June) students will learn production numbers from well-known Broadway Musicals, old and new, which will be performed for the year-end showcase.
Triple Threat® Classes are designed for students who will make a year-long commitment to each and every class. Under the expert guidance of trained professionals, students learn production numbers from well-known Broadway musicals, old and new, and popular music. In the first phase of the year-long program (September-December), students participate in a rotation of separate classes in each discipline of Jazz Dance, Vocal Ensemble, and Acting Scene Work and Improvisation. Students are assessed in the first two classes on dance technique and split between Elementary and Intermediate levels. The second phase of the program (January–May/June) integrates all training to date through the development of a show with musical theatre and popular music production numbers, along with acting scenes to be performed at the year-end showcase.
Pre-College In the first half of this year-long program (September–December), students participate in a rotation of separate classes in each discipline of Jazz Dance, Vocal Ensemble/Group Singing, Acting Improvisation and Monologue Study. Students learn and rehearse audition techniques, practice resume writing and end the term with a mock audition with a professional panel, receiving valuable industry feedback. The second phase of the program (January–May/June) integrates all training to date through the development of an original musical written and directed by up and coming local writers to be presented to the public and a selection to be showcased at the Year-End Showcase. The creative team of Johnson & Johnston, creators and writers of Summerland The Musical (www.summerlandthemusical.com) will be returning to write and direct the Pre-College show for the 2015-2016 year..
Each year ends in June with a thrilling showcase featuring performances by students in all the Triple Threat Classes.
All students MUST be available for the Year-End Showcase dress rehearsal. Details will follow at a later date.
The 2017 Year-End Showcase takes place on June 4, 2017. Note: there are two identical shows on the same day.
